Our Leadership Team:

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal  is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Reverend Galene Boyett

As a military brat and preacher’s kid, I come from nowhere and everywhere. Family is my home, along with The United Methodist Church as a denomination, which is where I was raised. I have lived in 12 towns in five states, participated in nine different churches and served as pastor of seven different churches with CITD the eighth. I have a husband, 3 boys – two married with kids and one in college, and two (big) dogs. A long-time cat person, don’t know what I would do without my four-legged “kids”. I find hope in my family and close friends, in the love I see in my congregations, and wherever I find people willing to open themselves up to the movement of the Holy Spirit in their lives and in their churches. I would like to learn more about the technology now needed to run our churches and our worship services, as well as learn conversational Spanish to speak with the growing number of Brothers and Sisters in Christ for whom some form of Spanish is their first language.

Alice Easter

Finance Secretary

Cross in the Desert UMC is my second home. I moved to Phoenix in 1982 and have been worshiping and praising my Lord here since. The Lord has blessed me with two daughters, three granddaughters and one grandson. I am thankful that my oldest daughter, her husband and two of my  granddaughters attend Cross in the Desert. My youngest daughter and her family lives in Fountain, Colorado. I have served the Lord here in many ways and am currently Finance Secretary. One funny story I would like to share with you is that when my family moved to Phoenix, I asked a neighbor where the closest Methodist Church was and she told me there is one at the corner of Sweetwater and 32nd Street. I just lived around the corner at the time and could hardly believe it. I said, “You are kidding, I thought that was a school.” At that time the Sanctuary had not been built, and there actually was a pre-school on the campus. But I was excited to realize there was a church so close. I have grown in my faith here and have gotten to know many different people who have loved and supported me through this journey that I continue to walk, learning more and more about our wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ.

Linda Moore

Administrative Assistant

I am a Phoenix native and grew up in the United Methodist Church. Cross in the Desert has been my family’s church and my extended “family” since 1992. My husband and I have been married since 1985 and have a son and a daughter. We also have two crazy four legged children (aka dogs).

As administrative assistant, I feel like I am giving back to the church family that has given so much to me over the years.
