Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Cross in the Desert United Methodist Church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas. Cross in the Desert members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as filling shoe boxes for the homeless, to preparing the church bulletins.

How Do I Meet People?

Cross in the Desert UMC is not a place for spectators. It is a place for team members. Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant church community. Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at Cross in the Desert.

Small Groups, Bible Studies and Fellowship Groups

In a congregation it is easy for new and old members alike, to feel “lost in the crowd.” Not at Cross in the Desert.  A unique entity called small groups encourages everyone of Cross in the Desert with common interests to get together. There are numerous active groups in the communities served by our church. The purpose of the groups is defined as “to provide fellowship, welcome new members, support one another in emergencies, establish communication, provide an avenue for expression of ideas and above all growth in the Lord.”

Groups may plan special events. There can be social activities, dining out, gathering for picnics or potlucks, going to a concert or play, or attending special church events together. Some of the groups have organized their own outreach projects aimed at caring for those in need, becoming another element in this mission-oriented church.
